David Norris
For Moore County School Board
About David
David Norris is a Moore County resident, community volunteer, and longtime problem-solver by profession. With a background in technology and systems analysis, David has spent his career working in environments where accuracy, accountability, and transparency are essential. That experience shapes how he approaches public service — with a focus on facts, fairness, and long-term solutions.

David currently serves as Chairman of the Carthage Planning Board, where he works with fellow board members, town leadership, and residents to ensure decisions about growth and development are made openly, responsibly, and with public input. He believes strongly that good government depends on listening first, asking hard questions when necessary, and always remembering who is being served.

David also has a long record of civic involvement through the Carthage Rotary Club. During his time with Rotary, he served as Club President, helped recognize graduating Moore County seniors through Rotary scholarship programs — including personally supporting one of those scholarships — and organized and directed the Rotary-sponsored Carthage 4th of July Parade for three consecutive years. His Rotary service focused on supporting students, strengthening community traditions, and bringing people together.

David is known for his calm, methodical approach to leadership. He believes progress is achieved not through division, but through clear communication, mutual respect, and steady decision-making. In both his professional and civic life, he is driven by one guiding principle: when people are treated with honesty and their voices are respected, trust grows.

As a candidate for the Moore County Board of Education, David brings a parent-first, transparency-driven mindset to the work ahead. He believes strong public schools are built through open governance, responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars, support for teachers, and meaningful involvement of families.
Why I am running
I’m running for the Moore County Board of Education because I believe our schools are strongest when parents are respected, teachers are supported, and decisions are made openly and responsibly.

Over time, too many families have felt disconnected from important conversations. Communication has broken down, and trust has been strained. When that happens, the impact reaches beyond policy — it affects classrooms, educators, students, and the broader community.

I believe the role of the Board of Education is clear and serious: to govern with honesty, accountability, and transparency. Parents should understand how decisions are made. Taxpayers should have confidence in how public dollars are spent. And educators deserve steady, thoughtful leadership that allows them to focus on teaching and learning.

I’m not running to tear anything down or to relive past disagreements. I’m running to help rebuild trust, improve communication, and ensure our schools remain focused on academic success and long-term planning.

Moore County deserves a school board that listens carefully, communicates clearly, and conducts its work in full view of the public. That is the standard I am committed to bringing to the Board of Education.
